The week of March 31 2008

This week wil weill be reading This Is the Way We Go to School and ou vocabulary words will be cable car, trolley, horse and buggy, skis, metroline and vaporetto. Our poem will be Yak in the Yard and our weekly words will be where and come. In math we will be working on shapes and addition. and in religion, we will be talking about the five senses.

Mass is Thursday at 930 and Friday is a halfday. Everyone have a wonderful safe spring break!!!

The week of March 25, 2008

This week we will be reading the story On the Move and our vocabulary words are travel, kayak, llama, dogsled, double-decker bus, and submarine. Our star words are where, is, come and me. Spelling words are they, you, of, on and mom. Test on these words will be on Friday. Our letters are V and Z and the theme for the week is Spring/ Living and Nonliving

In math we will be working on addition all week, and in religion we will be doing bible stories and talking about how Jesus is risen.

Friday is a PTO non-uniform day ($1)

Don’t forget that Saturday is Trivia night for our children!!

The week of March 17 2008

Monday is our field trip to the bank. Its also St Patricks Day, wear green!!!

This week our theme is Easter. Please don’t forget to bring in your eggs. We will be reviewing the letter Uu and be reading the story The Little Engine That Could, and Jan and Gus. Our vocabulary words are engine, tracks, passenger, roadhouse, mountain, and valley.

Our words to learn are what, said and was.

Tuesday is our Science Expo.

Thursday we will have living stations in the gym at 830 and we will have our Easter Egg hunt.

No school on Friday

It’s Catholic Schools Week!!!!

There are quite a few activities scheduled for this week.

Monday is student appreciation day, starting with donuts served by the teachers at 715. It is also a non-uniform day.

Tuesday mass will be celebrated by our bishop at 10am in the high school gym. Please join us.

Wednesday is our school open house. Please invite a friend to come visit SMSS. It is also registration for preschool and new students.

Friday is a prayer service for all those that have volunteered at our school at 8am in the SMES gym.

This week our theme will be fairytales. We will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, 3 Billy Goats Gruff, 3 Little Pigs, and Good night Gorilla.

Our spelling test will be on Thursday this week, and the words are it, tap, to, a, and sit.

In religion, we will be talking about Jesus in our family, Mary Jesus’ mother, and the Holy Family.

Please bring a flashlight for school on Wednesday.

Friday is our trip to the Carson Center. We will leave at 930.

Welcome back to school!!!!

We are going to ease back into school this week. We will not have a story in reading. We will have a winter/snow theme. I think it will be appropriate because it is supposed to be cold. We will do some creative writing and snow activities. We will review some concepts in our reading curriculum also. We will get back into working with our sight words and reading from our little readers. I will not send any reading books home this week. We will work on numbers and counting objects in math as we wrap up this chapter. We will also do some graphing.

I will send homework home on Thursday night. And I will send report cards home on Friday. I am very proud of the progress of all of the children. They are working hard! Have a fantastic rest of the week!
